Attached is a game schedule for 2/18 that has tournament
games in A, GA, GB. D. GD. EE and E divisions. The games have been added
to the Sat. schedule for 2/18. All tournament games are in red print.
Please note that there are a few changes in tournament game times and
divisions that were listed on the original 2/18 schedule. These changes
had to be made to make the schedule work. There are some teams that
will play 2 games if they win their first game on Saturday. At least
3 hours has been allowed between games if a second game is played. Please
make sure your coaches check all games to make sure they don’t
have the possibility of playing more than one game. Complete tournament
brackets will be sent out hopefully by Tuesday at the latest for the
divisions that start tournament play on 2/18. They are done they just
need to be typed up. I have also attached the list of teams by flight
in each division. The teams that start tournament play on 2/25 are not
included since those division flights have not been determined yet.
The records of all teams will be updated this week. I have most of the
game results, but the priority was to get the tournament games out for
2/18 as soon as possible. If you have any questions please contact me
either by phone 704-491-8514 or by email.
Special note: Please tell all winning coaches to send in results ASAP
on the 18th so I can update the records and brackets.
1-27-12:
February 4th is the leagues Barefoot Coaching Day. You
may have received an email from Samaritans Feet about this. This is
optional for coaches, but is a great way for the teams to have a ministry
focus above basketball. The main purpose is to raise awareness of the
desperate need for shoes on children's feet around the world. If each
of our teams could raise enough funds to purchase 10 pair of shoes it
would make an incredible impact. Samaritans feet would gladly accept
shoe donations, but they can produce and distribute a pair of shoes
anywhere in the world for $10.00. We can't buy a pair of shoes for that
price. Further details of this ministry opportunity will be emailed
out tonight. You will also be receiving additional information from
Samaritans Feet. They will gladly set up a web page for each church
and team if so desired to give people an opportunity to contribute to
the cause.under the churches banner.
1-3-12:
Above are the reported results for the games in December. There are
a few games not reported or I missed it. If you have a result of a game
that is not posted, please send it to me so I can update it.
1-2-12:
I have the schedule completed and proofed through 1/28. I was hoping
to finish it and email out tonight, but I still have some changes to
make on 2/4, 2/11 and 2/18. I am trying to have the regular season end
in most of the divisions by 2/11 so the tournament can start the weekend
of 2/18. I know there are a few divisions that will have to have regular
season games on 2/18. Note that a few teams will play 2 games on a Saturday
in order to finish most divisions in 9 weeks. The schedule for 2/4,
2/11 and 2/18 has been completed but needs to be proofed and tweaked
to make it work. I hope to get the entire completed schedule out by
Tuesday night. I know I have said that before, but I do have good intentions.
There are quite a number of requests to work out.
Thanks for your patience. All 4 Saturdays in January are above. I did
have to make a couple of typo changes on 1/7 and 1/14. Please note the
changes on those 2 Saturdays.
1/7 Changes: Team 259 plays at Pritchard at 9:00am
Team 258 has a bye.
Team 256 is playing at Providence at 10:30
1/14 Changes: Team 160 plays team 169 at St. Stephen at 11:00am
Team 158 plays team 168 at Trinity at 1:45pm
12-30-11:
I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I am working to get the schedule
out as quickly as possible. Above you will find the January 7th and
14th schedules completed and proofed. The entire remaining schedule
should be ready by Sunday afternoon. I wanted to get the entire schedule
completed and proofed before sending it out, but felt it best to get
the first 2 Saturdays out to you so your parents can make their plans.
Please check the schedule for typos or mistakes. It has been proofed,
but as you know, there still may be something we missed.
12-8-11:
I guess I really have been doing this to long, or maybe my eyesight
is just getting worse with age.
I made a mistake on the times for this Saturday 12/10 at the Park. I
left a gap in the middle of the day by leaving out the 12:45 slot. That
creates a problem for everyone because scorekeepers and referees would
have to sit for an hour. I have looked at everything and the best way
to create minimal change in game times and get rid of the 1 hour gap
is to move the first four games up 1 hour. If I moved the last four
games down it would lead to the possibility that someone would not get
the change and completely miss their game. By moving the teams forward
1 hour their time remain close to the same and the worse thing that
can happen is they show up 1 hour early for their game. I hope this
does not completely confuse you.
The second mistake is on 12/17. I mistakenly scheduled team 263 STS
to play team 259 COV2 on 12/10 and again on 12/17. In order to keep
the same teams from playing each other 2 Saturdays in a row, a change
in 2 games has to be made. On 12/17 team 265 PRO is going to move from
Pritchard at 12:00 to play team 259 COV2 at Bell Johnson at 11:45am.
Team 263 STS is going to move from Bell Johnson at 11:45 to play team
258 COV1 at Pritchard at 12:00. This keeps the game time for both teams
close to the same and only changes the gym site and opponent.
12-3-11:
Thankfully the need for changes and revisions to the schedule have been
less than in past years, but here are a few more because of mistakes
from special requests or typos. Sorry for these changes and thanks for
your continued patience. Please make sure you review the changes and
let your coaches know if their team is involved in the revisions. As
always, hopefully these revisions do not create a problem for your teams.
I am attaching the revised schedule sheets as well as listed below all
revisions.
Also getting in the game results is very important so the league can
keep teams records up to date and also helps in identifying the more
experienced or less experienced teams when making the rest of the schedule
for after Christmas. The league has always requested that the winning
team report scores using the "report scores template" on the
web page. Even though games results would be reported twice it would
help make sure all games are reported if both coaches of every game
would complete and submit the game results. If you have any questions
please email or give me a call. See above for a how to report game results
instruction sheet.
12-2-11:
Nations Ford Community Church is having a Toy Drive to benefit needy
children in their community. I have attached a
flier sent by Nations ford about the Toy Drive. They are accepting
toys on Saturday, December 3rd at the Family Life Center. If you can
help, bring a toy to the games on Saturday.
Also, here is a great resource for team pictures that I received from
Jeff Leonard at Nations Ford Community Church. If you are interested
in having someone take team photos for your teams, give Jeff a call.
I am attaching an information sheet
that he sent to me with his contact information.
11-26-11:
If you find any mistakes, typos, or have a question about the schedule,
please call me at 704-491-8514 or Mike Henley at 704-927-1265. Make
sure that you copy all the sheets including the list of teams, game
host sites and Church directory. You will need all sheets to find out
when and where your team plays.
Also, please let your coaches know that it is important to make sure
the results of the games are reported by the winning coach. Game results
will be kept in each division on the web site so teams will know how
they are doing. Please have all your coaches send me an email at recminister@carolina.rr.com
with the church and team they are coaching. I know some of you included
the coaches' email addresses with the registration form, but if I get
an email from them it will be easier for me to make sure I have each
coach's updated email address. This will help in communication during
the year.
11-14-11:
Here is the information on the optional accident insurance that we talked
about at the coordinators meeting with Nationwide Insurance. Click
here for an information sheet on the coverage. If any of your players
would like to have this additional insurance it is very inexpensive.
It is optional and everyone does not have to have it. Just make a list
of the ages of the players who will be taking the coverage and send
a check for the total amount to Playbook for Life. Playbook will fill
out one league registration form for the insurance and send in one check
to Nationwide Insurance. If you have any question please give me a call.
11-10-11:
It is getting closer to the season. If you have not registered your
teams for the upcoming season, please do so ASAP. If you have not let
me know when your gym is available, I need to know within the next couple
of days. I am beginning to work on the schedule for December.
Because we are still waiting on final team registrations, the coaches'
meeting has been moved from the tentative date of November 12 (this
Saturday) to Saturday, November 19th at 9:00am at Covenant Presbyterian
Church (1000 Morehead street) in the Fellowship Hall across from the
Family Life Center. Sorry if this change is an inconvenience. Please
encourage all your coaches to attend.
Thanks,
Keith
